anyone running adaware

Anyone running AdAware?

Anyone running Adaware from Lavasoft on Beta2? I checked their web site and I couldn't find anything that related to Vista. I have always liked this little program and it has always caught things others haven't. dotcom

I am not but I do also run it in XP and like it. But, I don't think we really need it now since Vista comes Windows Defender. Can anyone else comment on that?
Thanks

No one seems to be reporting being inundated with adware, so you are probably correct.

I believe Windows Defender does not currently catch tracking cookies. I *HATE* tracking cookies. AdAware catches them quite well. Maybe in later versions Defender will be more robust but for now, it just doesn't cut it for me. dotcom

Not to say that other than give some of the 3rd party products a try. If you don't at least try or research the 3rd party competitors before choosing the MS (MonopolySoft) software, then you are showing you do not value free market enterprise. That's not to say that MS does or does not have the best product(s), but give the others a shot too. By all means if in your opinion MS has the best product for a computing need of yours, use it. You know what I mean.

Adaware installs good on Vista Beta 2, and if it is installed on another partition (for example the XP partition) it will warn you during installation that there could be a conflict, but it will not be a conflict.
